Beatles finally agree to let music be sold online

Unfortunately Techdirt beat me to the best song pun I could think of: Yesterday, Beatles downloads seemed so far away

The short version is that the Beatles finally agreed to let their music be sold online. My reaction - you mean they weren’t already? What the fuck is wrong with them?

I mean seriously, I’m no fan of iTunes or any other digital music stores, but what did they hope to gain by holding out, exactly? I mean it’s not exactly like Beatles songs were hard to find online… the only difference is that it was previously impossible for them to make money from it.

Once again, the logic of copyright holders eludes me.
