Telco’s could be liable for Tens of Billions of dollars

Via ThinkProgress:

In other words, for every 1 million Americans whose records were turned over to NSA, the telcos could be liable for $1 billion in penalties, plus attorneys fees. You do the math.

The sad reality is we won’t get jack shit from the Republicans in Congress on this, even with November looming. The trojan horse strategy therefore is to go after the complicit corporations. The self-preservation instinct of these shitbag corporations will kick in pretty darn quick if some lawsuits get going and there’s a mass customer defection. Congress may not listen to the people; but if the telecom industry comes crying they’ll have to hold hearings, minimally.
