Dan Gillmor has posted a transcript of an excellent talk he gave discussin the future of journalism. He raises so many great points that I’m finding it impossible to snip out a good summation; just click through a read the whole thing for yourself.
The biggest impacts of the net has only just begun to be felt. Since the invention of the radio (and arguably the printing press), mass media has been in the hands of an elite few, with total control over very narrow channels dictating what we see. When those filters finally disappear entirely, I think a lot of the old media, social, and political structures will have crumbled.
The revolution will not be televised. It’ll be blogged, googled, podcast, and torrented.
